All Bruner, All the Time
Bock and Blithe
Apologies to all of you Bruner Blogaholics for the several lapse in postings, but I keep getting sucked into having a life. Memorial Day weekend was spent in the southern California desert -- 29 Palms, to be precise, near Joshua Tree National Park and Palm Springs. Here are some of my photos.
I was there to witness the joyous union of David Bock and Blithe Smith. I wish them all the happiness Adi and I have known in the past 11 years.
I've known David for years. He's a bit like a cross between Barton Fink and Peewee Herman. Very entertaining company. Sadly for me, he moved to LA two months before I moved to NYC (his former abode) almost three years ago. Fortunately for him, however, he met the lovely Blithe there. I have only begun to get to know her so far, but I can tell you she embodies her name in the first meaning Webster provides ("happy lighthearted character") not the second ("lacking due thought or consideration"). She's a D.A., but in a happy-go-lucky way, not an inconsiderate way. Any woman that could love David Bock is okay by me.
Spent much of my weekend hanging around with Dana and his hot model boyfriend Damon. Dana's been looking more buff since he's been dating Damon, but he's still very hairy. Here he is in the desert in his undies.
Here's Evan and his mom, Gilly, whom I used to have a crush on. Gilly long ago married the charming Peter Sherman, David's TV screenwriting partner. Isn't Evan cute?! You should see his flaming red hair!

Goodbye Pork Pie
Goodbye Q. Thanks for everything. Have a great trip, and drop me a line.
FYI, here are some versions of that song that was playing at Starbucks (incredibly enough), "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat." It's a haunting melody by composer and bassist Charles Mingus in tribute to "The Prez," saxaphone great Lester Young. A classic tune, it's been recorded many times (a high-speed connection would help for these):

Goulash on Memorial Day?
My wife is such a little hottie! I love these photos of her and her sexy Hungarian girlfriends. In both pictures, she's on the right, in black (as always). Anita (below) is in red and Ildiko is in white. I swear, there is something in the water over there in Hungary that makes the girls all look this good. These shots, however, are taken in NYC on Memorial Day, out on Miki's Greenpoint, Brooklyn rooftop, w/ Manhattan skyline in the background.
The other two girls are single, btw, boys. ;-)
Wish I could take credit for the photos, but alas, I was flying home from LA on Memorial Day. Top two might have been snapped by our filmmaker friend Pearl? The third, however, is obviously Miki's own self-portrait. He is, afterall, a director of photography. (In fact, I now imagine he's the auteur of all three.)
(Yo, Miki, I Googled your name in quotes and there's only one lousy page on the Internet that mentions you, and it was in Hungarian. That's lame, given that you have several film credits. I know you read the blog. Why don't you try writing one? MiklosBuk.com is an available domain...)
